Key Stage 2 'reign' supreme on their 'Wow' day!

Key Stage 2 had an exciting day to launch their new topic – Magnificent Monarchs.

Mrs Beddow introduced the topic with an assembly where she explained what a Monarch and Monarchy are and how during this project, the children will learn about the English and British monarchy from AD 871 to the present day.

To launch this we had a day of carousel activities which all the children experienced moving around and working together in their houses.

Miss Whipps and Mrs Brown lead a dancing workshop learning a medieval court dance to ‘Greensleeves’ written by Henry VIII.

Mr Snowdon and Mrs Rolfe created collages of various monarchs throughout the era recycling fabric and other materials.

Mrs Beddow and Ms Brierly lead a workshop on making Crowns and explained the importance of Crowns to a monarch.

Mr Mulrennan and Mrs Borg lead a singing workshop where the children learnt "Monarchs Song” from Horrible Histories naming all the Kings and Queens of England from William the Conqueror.
