Scientist of the Week

Congratulations and well done to our new SRH Scientist of the Week for correctly answering the question – “Do astronauts grow in space?”

The answer to the question is actually yes and no. In space, there is no gravity pulling you down to the surface. Therefore, the gaps between the vertebrae in the spine begin to expand and astronauts get slightly taller. This is not permanent as gravity squashes them back down when they return to Earth.

This week’s question is “Why do some people get freckles when its sunny?”
