As part of the ongoing work we do
in school with the children about keeping safe on the internet, this morning we
held an informative session to which all parents were invited.
Those who attended gave very positive feedback about the
session and how it had armed them with information that they had previously
been unaware of.
Advancements in technology mean that online safety
for children is more important than ever. With young children having devices
that can connect to the internet, it is important that parents and carers can
keep up with ways to keep their child safe. The session helped parents and
carers understand their child’s online world and build confidence to have those
important conversations that can help keep children safe online.
With children spending more time
online, we know that this will impact on their digital wellbeing and mental
health, both positively and negatively too.
For those parents who wanted to
attend but were unable to during the school day, we will be sharing some of the
information via ParentMail this week.

Safer
Internet Day is coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre, the
event sees organisations get involved to promote the safe, responsible and
positive use of digital technology for children and young people.
This
year’s theme is ‘Want to talk about it? Making space for
conversations about life online’.
