Congratulations and well done to our new SRH Scientist of the Week for correctly answering the question – “Why do birds not fall off a branch when they sleep?”
The answer was that birds have a nifty tendon arrangement in their legs. This means that when resting, the birds shift in weight causes their knees to bend and pulls on a tendon. This in turn closes the bird’s claws meaning it maintains its tight grip on the branch.
This week’s question is “Do astronauts grow in space?”
