The children in VW have started their algebra unit. Today, the children got to grips with one step equations. We discovered that a one-step equation is an algebraic equation that is solved in one step. Once we had solved it, we'd found the value of the letter that makes the equation true. We explored the rule 'change the side, change the sign' and essentially used the inverse (opposite) of whatever operation is being performed in the equation. To make our workings easier to decipher, some children used colour to help differentiate our letters and numbers.
