What a busy week in Class LH!

As scientists, we completed a STEM challenge, Float or Sink.  We made predictions about certain objects whether they would float or sink before finding out. We also explored whether a flat shape would be different to a rolled up ball shape. We used washing up liquid too to experiment with a cotton wool tip and the tip floated to start with but then the end with the washing up liquid sank.  We talked about density and the water surface.

As theologians, we learnt about some of the 33 parables in the bible. We role played Good Samaritan and the lost sheep.  We talked about the Prodigal Son.  We then looked at four other parables and in groups we shared the story and then decided which items we would put into  a parable box for each of these stories; Forgiveness, Come to the Party, The Two Houses and 'Sowing and Growing'.

We have been inspired by the painting of John Freeman who painted some really abstract images of the parables and have created our own pictures about the parables.

As designers we have investigated where different fruit comes from and how the sailors and pirates would have used these fruits to help keep healthy on their long journey across the oceans. We then tried a variety of fruits and chose our own fruits to design our own kebabs.  After this we evaluated them and decided what we would do differently next time we made them.  Many thought strawberries would be good to use to add a bit of colour.

As musicians we have been learning about composition and using a graphic score to identify different sounds with different instruments.
